An atom with how many electrons in its outer shell is most stable

The noble gases (Group 18 of the Periodic Table) are a great example, each atom enjoys 8 electrons in its valence shell- with the exception of Helium, which Dania Tabbara reminds us has two because that is the number of electrons required for an atom with 1 electron shell to be stable.
